Hi all ---

The City of Green Bay has by contacted by Wis DOT with plans for the Highway 41 reconstruction project. As part of the project they will be rebuilding the intersection at Lombardi Av. In the process they will add sidewalks and crosswalks within the proposed roundabouts.

Wis DOT has offered to the City of Green Bay to add sidewalks and paths to connect from Shady Lane to a path leading to John Muir Park. If this is done as part of the reconstruction then Wis DOT will pay for it. If the City declines this offer now and decides at a later date to add the accommodations, then the City will have to pay for them.

This item will be looked at on Monday February 22, 2010 at the City of Green Bay Improvement and Services Committee meeting 6 pm at City Hall. Not all of the City council members think this connection is a good idea.

It is time for your voice to be heard on this project. You can send your comments to Mayor Jim Schmitt at City Hall jimsc@ci.green-bay.wi.us or call 920-448-3005. Ask him to forward your comments to all the City council members.

Pedestrian and bicycle advocacy groups across Brown County are trying hard to improve infrastructure as roads are reconstructed. Making it possible to get across Highway 41 at all intersections to connect the east and west neighborhoods is part of this goal.
